0ct. 17, 1914 - July 26,2013
Douglas was on October 17, 1914 in Llano, Texas, to John Duff and Julia Tomkins Duff. He met Lucile Graves when he was working at a movie theater. They were married in Boling, Wharton County, Texas on May 17, 1936. He and Lucile moved from Houston to Bryan in 1949.
Douglas owned and operated the Tasty Freeze restaurant at the corner of University and Texas Avenue where he enjoyed serving Aggies for many years. Later he became a traveling insurance salesman before he retired in Bryan. Douglas was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Lucile, for 71 years. During the last years of her life he faithfully cared for her in their home. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2007.
Douglas was a storyteller and could really spin a tale. He died at Waldenbrook Estates on July 26, 2013 under hospice care, with his friend, Ginger McClellan at his bedside. He was 98 years, 9 months, and 9 days old.
Douglas lived a full life and those who knew him were blessed to have been his friend. We take comfort in knowing he is with the savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Graveside services will be conducted at 9 a.m., Sunday, July 28, at Bryan City Cemetery.
