Bill Kroll, 73, of Richards, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Huntsville Health Care Center.




Calling hours will be from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will take place at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1511 Hwy 90 S. in Anderson from 5 to 6 p.m. with a parish rosary to be recited at 6 p.m.




A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson, with the Rev. Rodolfo "JoJo" Cal-Ortiz as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery.




Pallbearers will be Chris Bolding, Leo Burzynski, Brian Burzynski, Allan Burzynski, Larry Wells and Michael Wrobleski.




Bill was born October 1, 1939 on the family farm in Richards, Texas to Sylvester Stephen (Selcer) and Mary Frances Podraza Kroll. He was a 1958 graduate of Richards High School where he played basketball and was the senior class favorite. During school he worked at the T.A. Witt Grocery Store. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country for two years. Bill went to work for Shell Oil in December 1968 and retired in July 0f 2005. He lived in Deer Park for a number of years, but kept the family home place all his life and returned to Richards in 2005. He had a passion for trains and airplanes and enjoyed baseball, his favorite team was the Astros, as well as football and basketball. Bill was life member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.




Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Ann Kroll Habernal.




Survivors include a nephew, Raymond Kroll and wife Karen of Bryan; a niece, Celeste Wells and husband Larry; great nieces and nephews, Leighann Wells, Garrett Wells and Chris Bolding and wife Julie and their children, Cole and Jordan Bolding, all of West Sandy along with numerous other relatives and friends.
