Bessie D. Johnson, better known as "Mother Johnson", 103, of Brazos County passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013.




Public viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, August 16, at Jones-Washington Mortuary. Memorial services will take place at her church home, Hall's Memorial COGIC, 1008 Hudson St. in Bryan, on Friday, August 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.




Home-going service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, at First United Methodist Church, 1125 Wellborn Rd. in College Station, with viewing from 9 a.m. until time service. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bryan.




Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ernest L. Johnson Sr.; sisters, Ella B. Littlejohn and Geneva Tucker; and brothers, George, Pinkney and Douglas Hall.




Survivors include her sons, William B. Johnson Sr. & Emma of San Antonio, Wallace Johnson & Dee of Sacramento, Calif., Ernest L. Johnson Jr. & Wanda, of Bryan; daughters, Ernestine Taylor of Houston, Ruby Smith & Lawrence of Bryan, and Margaret Thomas of Bryan; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren & one great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives & friends.




The family extends special thanks to Viola Walker, caregiver of 20 years, Gwen Barber and the Hospice Brazos Valley team, Dr. Haywood Robinson, and many others too numerous to acknowledge here, for your continuous prayers and loving support.
