Patsy Joy Gaines, 81, of Bryan, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her residence in Bryan. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1515 South College Ave. in Bryan. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.




Patsy was born November 26, 1931, the daughter of William Charles and Lilah Leona (Baugher) McAfee in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in Oklahoma and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1967 until 1989. She was married to Billie H. Gaines in Bryan on August 30, 1980. Together, Patsy and Billie traveled all over Texas. They loved taking photographs of the bluebonnets and doing everything together. Patsy and Billie traveled to Aruba, among other vacation spots and enjoyed spending time with each other and their families.




She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billie Gaines; brother-in-law, Walter O. Sams; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Charles Baetz; and stepson, Billie Gaines, Jr.




Patsy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Craig Mitchell of Bryan; her sons and daughter-in-law, Arthur Riley, III and his wife Linda of Huntsville, Alabama, Patrick Riley of Bryan, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, JoEllen Sams of Lucein, Oklahoma, and Naomi and Dick York of Maine; her stepdaughter, Cynthia Gaines of Austin, Texas, her sisters-in-law, Ida Louise and Gene Vaughn of Temple, Texas, and Lottie Kiecke of Lake Jackson, Texas; her brothers and sister-in-law, Harry and Virginia Gorham of Broomfield, Colorado and Curtis Gorham of Denver, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Tom and his wife Jeanie Gaines of Angelton, Texas; along with fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.




Family members have requested that memorials be give to The American Cancer Society
