Darrel Davis passed away at the College Station Medical Center on the morning of October 1, 2013, at the age of 75.




Darrel was born on November 27, 1937 in Llano County in the Texas Hill Country, to parents Alvin Ezra and Retta Chew Davis. He graduated from Llano High School in 1956, and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He married Marilyn Williams, his high school sweetheart on April 24, 1959, and earned his Bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1963. Darrel and Marilyn raised their three daughters in College Station, and worked for USDA-ASCS until his retirement in 1996.




Darrel was an active member of First Baptist Church of College Station, enjoyed working at the church food pantry, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, and loved fishing with a passion.




Darrel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Davis; daughter Alice Anderson and husband Murray of Niceville, FL; daughter Sandra Templeton and husband Darrell of Katy, TX; daughter Dara Hennings and husband Brian of College Station; 7 grandchildren, Daniel and Lauren Anderson, Cara and Ethan Templeton, Ellen, Dean, and Claire Hennings; brother Kenneth N. Davis and wife Bonnie; sisters-in-law Claire Edwards and husband Earl, Linda Jewell and husband Al; brothers-in-law Jay Williams and J.T. Dotson; and numerous nieces and nephews.




He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Margaret Dotson.




A visitation for the family and friends will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, Thursday, October 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 4th at First Baptist Church of College Station.




In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of College Station or a charity of your choice.
