Joe Edward Hedge, Sr., 68, of Bryan passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, at Jones-Washington Mortuary. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, October 17, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Sylvester Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.




Joe Edward Hedge, Sr. was born November 3, 1945 in Bryan, to Jessie and Lenora Hedge. He graduated from E.A. Kemp High School. He was a rancher and a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and farming he was a member of the Cargill Ranch.




He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lenora Hedge; sister, Jessie Mae Tennell; brother, Tommy Lee Hedge.




Survivors include his wife, Billie J. Ross; sons: Mark and Susan Sheilds of Bryan, Anthony and Denise Hedge of Iola and Joe Edwards Hedge, Jr. of Houston; daughters, Carolyn Hedge of Bryan, and Sherly Morris; brother, John Thomas Hedge of Bryan; sisters, Betty Tyrone of Rowlett, and Norma Ray Hedge; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friends The Cargill Family.




The family extends special thanks to New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the Cargill Family.
