Hazel L. Smith, 74, passed away Sunday October 13, 2013 at her home in College Station. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday October 16, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 A.M. Thursday, October 17, at the funeral home.




Hazel was born November 8, 1938 to Anna Hughes and James F. Dietz in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She grew up and attended school in Little Rock, Arkansas. She married James H. Smith, Jr. on November 16, 1957 in Little Rock. She and her family moved to Bryan/College Station in 1976 when her husband James was transferred to Bryan while working for Texaco. Hazel was a bookkeeper and had worked for Cofer and Cofer, and David Thurman Realty. She was a wonderful mother and a loving wife. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bryan.




She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband James on September 21, 2009.




She is survived by her son, James H. Smith III and Cara McGill of College Station; her daughter, Cynthia Denham and Ronnie Kuehnle of College Station; grandchildren, Crystal Herman and Michael, James Michael Denham, and Kirby Alan Smith; Great-grandchildren, Walker Herman, and Logan James Smith; three brothers, Melvin Dietz, Donald Dietz, and Larry Dietz; one sister, Margarite Bullman; and numerous nieces and nephews.




Memorials may be made in memory of Hazel L. Smith to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, TX 77803.
