Minnie V. Cassel, 92, of Navasota passed away October 13, 2013, at her home. At her request no services are planned.

Born January 3, 1921, she was the daughter of Walter Virden and Myrtice Alma (Cooper) Virden, in Griffin, Ga. and graduated from Griffin High School in 1939. She married Fred C. Cassel, Jr. on September 4, 1942 in Miami. Fl.

Minnie served as a volunteer at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and served as assistant to Mary Greenwood in the organization of Houston's first March of Dimes Mothers March on Polio. She was a former member of Brae Burn Country Club and Briarcrest Country Club. She was also a member of Miramont Country Club.

Her husband Fred C. Cassel, Jr., preceded Mrs. Cassel in death.

Survivors include her son, Jim B. Cassel and his wife, Diane, of Navasota; and her granddaughter, Kelly Kelsey of Bellingham, Wa.
