Jo Ann Laird, 79, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2013. A time for family to receive friends will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Hillier Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 10:30 am at Hillier.
Jo Ann was born in Galveston on August 20, 1934 to John and Hilda Neas. Jo Ann leaves behind a loving family including two sons, James Laird and wife Jeannie of Bryan, Jack Laird and wife Sherry of Maricopa, Ariz.; her two sisters Lynette Cole of Hitchcock, Texas, Marjorie Scalf and husband Jim of Texas City; two grandsons Jason and Jeffery Laird, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett Laird; sister, Kathleen O'Reagan; and brothers, Kenneth and James Neas. Jo Ann was primarily a homemaker throughout her life dedicating her love and service to her military husband and two sons. After living on many different military bases during Everett's military career, they returned to Aggieland in 1971 as their choice of residence for retirement. Earlier in life, Jo Ann worked for the Navy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, NASA in Houston, as well as ANCO Insurance of Bryan.
Jo Ann was a devout Christian and a member of the Lutheran faith. As a loving mother and grandmother, she was most known by her family and friends for her passion of cooking, quilting and knitting. She touched many through her special gifts of true love and thoughtfulness. Jo Ann was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
