Phil Luke Scamardo, 75, entered into rest November 3, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Unit in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M.




A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan, with Rev. Patrick Ebner and Rev. Msgr. John Malinowski as co-celebrants. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.




Phil was born July 14, 1938 in Bryan, Texas the son of Luke M. and Kathrine (Tritico) Scamardo. Phil was a farmer and rancher. He also owned and operated a fertilizer company. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. J.B. Gleissner, Council 1834.




Phil had a great love for the land and enjoyed being outside, either tending to the farm or ranch or enjoying hunting. His greatest love was for his family and was proud of all his children, which included not only his three daughters and their husbands, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well.




Phil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Morris and Jim Scamardo; and a nephew, Mario Scamardo.




Survivors include his wife, Judith H. Scamardo; three daughters, Phillis Gaines and her husband Robin of Madison, AL, Kathy Bodiford and her husband Steve of Youngsville, LA, Jeri Beck and her husband Joseph of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Courtney Sutton & her husband Justin, Luke Gaines & his wife Jessye, Casey Gaines, Lauren Romero & her husband Jordy, Craig Bodiford, and Zachary Beck; two great grandchildren, Briggs Sutton and Kay Gaines; two nieces, Mary Ellen Wolf and Joanna Civiletto; two sisters-in-law, Tillie Scamardo and Carol Scamardo.




In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Unit in Bryan or St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bryan.
