William Ottis Collard, 93, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 in Bryan, Texas. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, at the funeral home with Bill Jeter officiating. Interment will follow at the Jozye Cemetery on Hwy 90 near Madisonville.




Ottis was born August 10, 1920 in Walker County, Texas to Jonathan Samuel and Alice Irene Collard. A WWII veteran, he served in the Army’s Eighth Infantry in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945. Ottis married the love of his life, Flossie Faye Montgomery, on June 15, 1946. They lived for many years in the Pasadena/Deer Park area while he worked at Champion Paper Company. Ottis and Flossie retired to Madison County in 1982 and were members of the Highway 90 Church of Christ.




He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John Edmon Collard, Charles Lemuel Collard, Lewis Clifton (Hobo) Collard and Clarence Allen Collard and his sister, Myrtle Irene Bennett and by his beloved wife Flossie.




He is survived by his sisters, Virgie Pearl Lucas and Dorothy Ann Jordy of Madisonville and Alice Marie Rice of Katy, Texas, their children Ottis Wayne Collard of Beloit, Kansas, Deborah Faye Reed of Madisonville, and Catherine Diann Goen of College Station, Texas, ten grandchildren, Brett, Ryan, Dale and Lance Collard, Jamie Lawson, Shanna Collins, Scott Reed Diane Alvarado, Erin Price and John Goen as well as several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.




Pallbearers will be Jimmy Collard, Cliff Collard, Jason Collard, Shawn Collard, Tommy Collard, Josh Collard, John Goen and Scott Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Collard, Brett Collard, Ryan Collard, Dale Collard, Lance Collard, Randy Collard, Keith Collard, Tom Goen, Ronald Lucas, Donald Lucas, Dane Lucas, Paul Tucker, Tim Rice and Jay Bennett.




The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at St Joseph Hospital.
