Melba Anne Johnson, 82, of College Station passed away on January 13th at the College Station Medical Center. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 16th at Central Baptist Church, followed by visitation at the church. There will be a private interment.



Melba was born in Greer County, Oklahoma to Clinton Pinkney Powell and Clela Wheeler Powell in 1932. She was raised in Mangum, Oklahoma and married her high school sweetheart, Eddie, in 1948. Melba worked for the Bell Telephone Company company for many years, then she and Eddie opened their own businesses. For the last ten years, she has worked for Bryan Freightliner, Lonestar Truck Group.



She was a Christian and a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a devoted and beloved teacher of the Koinonia Sunday School Class since 1980.



She was preceded in death by her son Keith Johnson and her two sisters, Fern Stidham and Norma Yoder.



Melba was the Spirit-filled matriarch of a closely knit family. She is survived by husband Marion Edgar Johnson; son Clint Johnson and wife Becky; grandchildren, Heather Flippen and husband Matthew, Laurie Williams and husband Joe, Corey Johnson, Casey Coleman and husband David and Clinton Lee Johnson and wife Helen; in addition to numerous great grandchildren.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, 1991 FM 158 Rd, College Station, TX 77845.
