After a life well lived, Bettie Sue (Davis) Locus passed peacefully into eternal rest Friday, March 7, 2014. Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Cavitt Church of Christ in Bryan. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Jones-Washington Mortuary with interment at Restever Memorial Park in Bryan.
Bettie was born August 28, 1933 in Gainesville, Texas to Fred Emerson and Myrtle Marie (Davidson) Davis. She attended the public schools of Atlanta, Texas where her father was both, an educator and a principal.
She matriculated to Prairie View A&M College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in English and where she met her husband, Elsworth Locus. Bettie and Elsworth married July 1, 1956 and lived in California, Texas and Iowa before moving to Bryan in 1990.
Her parents and a brother, Gerald Davis, preceded Bettie in death.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Elsworth; three children, Marilyn Locus of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark Locus of Chicago, Ill., and Maureen Locus of Dallas; and two grandchildren, Tyce and Teagan Locus of Chicago. Also surviving is her brother, Charles Davis and his wife Marion of San Francisco, Calif., along with his children and grandchildren.
