Visitation for William James " Bill " Zikus of Hearne will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday April 23 at First Baptist Church in Hearne. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday April 24 at the church. Interment will follow at Suggs Cemetery near Hearne.



He retired from the U.S. Army where he served during Vietnam and served on the Berlin Wall. He also retired from Texas A&M University Police Department and was also an Analyst for Boss Chemical Company.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Martin and Margaret Beattie Zikus; and his sister Margaret



Survivors include his wife, Darlene (Broadus) Zikus of Hearne; sons and daughter-in-law, David William Zikus of Bryan, James Martin Zikus of Bryan, Bob and Sharon Choiniere of Madisonville; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Dannette and Stacey Crook of Leona, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Edward Zikus of Fort St Lucie, Florida and Edward Martin & Jane Zikus also of Fort St Lucie Florida; grandchildren, Jonathan and wife, Brayden, Tiffany, Tyler, Logan, and Tatum; and great-grandchild, Brenleigh; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.



The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Wounded warriors project 4899 Belfort Rd Ste 300 Jacksonville, Fl 32256, Still Creek Ranch 6055 Hearne Rd Bryan, Texas 77808, American Heart Association 7272 Greenville, Aave Dallas, Texas 75231 or to a charity of your choice.



Arrangements are entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.
