Nelda (Batten) Bishop, 72, of Hearne, passed away May 14, 2014 in Hearne. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, with Bro. Dale Wells officiating. Following the funeral service, family and friends will meet at the Franklin Cemetery for a committal service.
Nelda was born August 18, 1941 in Bryan, Texas, the daughter of John and Mina (Klein) Batten. She was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling and shopping but above all else, she loved being with her family.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mina Batten.

Survivors include her husband, James “Bud” Bishop; son and daughter-in-law, Bubba and Leslie Bishop of Bryan; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jerry Fickey of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Chris Batten of Temple; grandchildren, Josh Bishop, Lauren Fickey, Cali Bishop, Derek Bishop and his wife Meagan; great grandchild, Berkley Bishop and the family pet, Maggie.
The family would like to thank Barbara Hein, Amanda Miller and the nurses at Compassionate Care Hospice.
