Don M Lindsay of Houston passed away July 8, 2014 at the age of 85. Services took place Saturday, July 12, at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Houston.



He grew up in College Station, the son of James D. and Grace (Boughton) Lindsay, as the oldest of four brothers. He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during the Korean War, 1950-1956.



Don married Sheila McDougall in 1956 and they had three children together. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University and a Master's degree in Education from UT in Austin. He served many years as an officer at VFW post No. 8905 in East Houston, and American Legion.



He is predeceased by his brother, Jim Lindsay.



He is survived by his wife Sheila; children, Lesa and her husband Michael Springer; Doug Lindsay and his wife Ann Cannon; David Lindsay; Diane and her husband Alfred Briones; his brothers, Hugh and Mark Lindsay. Grandchildren are Molly, Nicholas, Carson and Blake Springer; Marshall and Alison Miller; and Nicholas Mustacchia.



Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or a publicly funded cause he loved, Democracy Now, which airs on Houston Community Radio Station 90.1 KPFT, online: www.kpft.org/pledge/ (step one has a pull down menu to choose show).
