Dora, 68, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord on July 13, 2014. A time for family to receive friends will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday July 18, 2014 at Hillier Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 507 E. 26th Street in Bryan with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.



Dora was born on October 10, 1945 to Sixta (Santellano) and Eusebio Alvarez Fava in El Dorado, Texas. Family was a large part of Dora’s life. Her home was the gathering place for all her family, especially on Sundays and holidays. Dora loved cooking for her grandchildren; her specialty was barbeque ribs. Also, at Thanksgiving was she would take special request for pies. Dora had a passion for gardening, having a green thumb for all types of plants. She worked for over 40 years with Court’s Saddlery, where she was able to create a personal saddle for George Strait. Dora was also an active member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church.



She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Rafael Dario Peña Jr.



Dora leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Rafael D. Peña Sr.; one daughter, Victoria Peña De Leon and husband Santos; 12 grandchildren, Bryan City Councilman Rafael D. Peña III and wife Maraiah, Brian, Heather, and Jacquelyn Montoya, Sabrina, Zachary and Kaylynn Peña, Adriana Slayton and husband Greg, Joseph Guzman, Victor Ontiveros, Jennifer Reed, Justin De Leon; special friends, Audrey and Anthony Reed; ten great-grandchildren; ten siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.



As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.
