Some people go out of their way to make you smile; others just do it naturally --and for this month’s feature of Wednesday’s Child, we introduce you to a ten year old girl who does just that. Her name is Shelby and she's longing for a family of her own.
“Hi I'm Ciana, how are you?"
When you're in the hospitality business, showering a ten year old with gifts from a place that has the word "chocolate" in it -- would make anyone -- especially this girl feel special; and that's exactly what we did on Shelby's day.
"Well we got you something and I'd like you to open it now so you can wear it when you're decorating,” said Neubauer.
"Cute!! Look at you!!" exclaimed Ciana Neubauer, Executive Pastry Chef at the Chocolate Gallery of BCS.
Neubauer is the executive pastry chef at the Chocolate Gallery and she took some time to give this budding baker a personal one-on-one cake and cookie decorating class.
So we got to work; coloring cookies and talking girl talk.
"You ready?" asked Ciana.
Shelby is soft-spoken and enjoys the simple things in life, like baking, playing with animals and admits she loves school. Shelby might not be looking for a family with a commercial kitchen, but if you have one, this budding chef says she might just spend a lot of time inside. This soft-spoken 10-year-old has a heart filled with compassion and says she wants to help people when she grows up -- particularly children.
"If they have a problem with something like child abuse, I would help them,” said Shelby.
Aside from her infectious smile and courageous personality - Shelby knows she's going a lot going for her. But she says the number one thing that's missing is a forever family so that she won't have to move again, change schools or meet new friends again-- instead, she'd rather spend that time getting to know a mom and a dad who she says she'll abundantly love -- forever.
