Jaquevius, whose nickname is "JP" is a sweet child who is well bonded to his siblings. He is well accommodating and enjoys having affection from others. He is a loveable, warm spirited child. JP is more shy and soft spoken then his younger sibling, Ny'Asia, with whom he is currently placed.

JP enjoys playing with cars, video games, trucks and things he can "tinker" with. He enjoys playing with his peers and siblings. JP plays well with other children however at times struggles to share his toys. He is learning appropriate boundaries to have between himself and his sister as well as other children.

Initially, JP appeared to be delayed in speech however is making tremendous progress. It is easier to communicate with JP now. JP is still on the quite side but is more open with speaking with the caseworker during visits. He is also more vocal and has started to stand up for himself.

JP wants and needs assurance that his most basic needs are being met. He should be constantly evaluated by teachers and caregivers to make sure that he is able to function at the appropriate educational level or that help is available.

Ny'Asia whose nickname is "Na-na" is described as a sweet and loving child. She enjoys coloring and playing with dolls. She enjoys being cradled by her caregivers and attaches easily. Ny'Asia is a tough 6 year old who does not allow other children to pick on her. Her foster mom refers to her as the "princess" in the home. She is also strong and feisty and able to defend herself when needed.

Ny'Asia responds best to direct and firm redirection and discipline. She is an endearing child who enjoys being hugged and treated like a princess. She benefits from involvement in various activities because she easily becomes board. Ny'Asia has difficulty getting along with her peers at times. She at times will fight back when she feels she is being mistreated. She is learning to share and not be aggressive in her play. She is also learning appropriate boundaries.

It is recommended that due to Ny'Asia need of structure, stability and predictability she needs to have appropriate boundaries set and modeled for her to improve her social functioning and exhibit acceptable behaviors.
Characteristics of Adoptive Family Desired

JP and Ny'Asia will need a very loving, nurturing family that is highly structured and experienced. The family will need to be willing to accept the children's challenging behaviors and be patient with them as they can challenge authority. The family must be diligent about supervising the children at all times and ensure they receive supportive services to help them with learning boundaries and adjusting to their new family.

JP and Ny'Asia have older siblings that were adopted by a relative. The ideal home for Jaquevius and Ny'Asia would be a two parent home near the Central Texas area so they will be able to continue frequent contact with their older siblings. JP at times has a hard time saying bye to his older siblings. He at times shuts down when it is time to say good bye and begins crying. He still misses his sisters and asks to see them more than the relative allows for visits. It will be important that an adoptive parent encourages and support sibling contact for JP and Ny'Asia with their older siblings.
