Leana Lowey VFC Director - often times if they don't find adoptive homes, they age out of the system and very few of us are ready to be without a family and when were 18 we still need a family to come home to, to return to and spend time with during the holidays.
In the state of Texas 6,100 children are in foster care hoping and waiting to be adopted into a safe and loving family.
Leana Lowey VFC Director - We adults don't like living in limbo and that's essentially what were asking our children who are waiting for adoption to do...is just live in this kind of system forever and not ever know am I going to be in this home for Christmas?
Brenda Rumfield - We typically have somewhere around 100 kids waiting for adoption at any given time.
Rumfield says for every child adopted, there is typically another waiting for adoption in the Brazos Valley.
In honor of National Adoption month in November, four children were adopted in the Brazos Valley.
In November, we introduced you to nine-year-old Malachi. If you fell in love with him, you're not alone. His forever family did too...the day they met him which is why they didn't hesitate in adopting him.
Malachi now has a forever home.
It typically takes 12-to-15 months to legally finalize the adoption.
