It was a scary morning for employees at the Wells Fargo Bank in Marquez.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office says the bank was robbed about 9:30 this morning.

According to the department, the robber used a pistol and possibly a hand grenade, before making off with what investigators call a large amount of cash.

No bank employees were hurt, but they were locked in a bathroom, and threatened with violence if they escaped.

Texas Rangers, the FBI, and Leon County sheriff's investigators are still looking for the robber, and any possible accomplices.

Suspect descriptions are vague, because they say the man was wearing a disguise.

The mayor we just elected is going to try and get us some city police officers but I think the Leon Co Sheriff's Dept has been doing a good job thus far. Up until this gas boom bringing more and more ppl to Marquez it never made sense to have the city pay for a full time police presence.

It will happen again. There is no law in Marquez and people know it. The only time you see the law in town is when something like this happens. The county commisioners and sheriff need to wake up before someone gets killed.

I was supposed to pick up my son and take him to the college fair today. When I drove thru Marquez I saw all the cops at the branch so I knew something was up. When I went to the school I found it under lockdown because they were trying to make sure the suspects couldn't get into the school and harm the kids. It was scary, stuff like this usually doesn't happen around here. I'm just glad no one was hurt (like when they robbed Normangee's bank a while back). I sure hope they catch the guys.

I can remember when the Normangee State Bank was robbed in the 90's. One day these idiots will realize that when you break the law in LEON COUNTY, they, (our law enforcement); will hunt your sorry butt down until the day you die. I promise boy they will get you. It is only a matter of time. People like this need to stay the hell out of our county.

We have a day care in Jewett about 15 miles from Marquez. We are on same highway. When they robbed bank, there was a reunion at our park for police officers. So we just saw like 20 cop cars fly that way. One of the cops happened to stop a grey taurus thinking it was one of suspects. We had like 5 cops infront of our daycare on Hwy 79 trying to identify the man. We had to take all kids in a room without windows just incase there was firearms going off. Good thing he was not one of the bank robbers. They took man to bank to see if he was one of them. I assume they told the people at bank to see if they recognized him. They brought him back and shook hands with officer and left.
