Washington County residents who get their electricity from Brenham Utilities or Bluebonnet Cooperative are in for a shock. The cost of power is about to go up.

Both Brenham and Bluebonnet purchase electricity from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) which has recently raised its rates.

That increase is being passed along to Brenham customers who'll see their electric bills go up an average of $11.57 per month. Bluebonnet customers will see an increase of $.005 per kilowatt hour.
