A construction worker at Texas A&M was rushed to the hospital Thursday evening following an on-the-job accident.

It happened just after 6 p.m. at a Vaughn construction site in the veterinary medicine complex.

According to university officials, a sub-contractor was on a concrete slab when it fell.

The worker was taken to The College Station Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

My husband was sub contracted to work for Habitat for Humanity and one of HFH scaffolding errected by HFH collapsed and he broke his neck and back. HFH supervisor state they did not check scaffolding and were unaware of constructions laws or OSHA codes. These supervisors had no qualifications by there own depositions but the claim no responsibility and claim my husband was a trespassed. A judge agreed my husband was a trespasser on a site he as contracted to work. If volenteers are to use those scaffoldings why not sub contractors. The differance they claim is that HFH volenteers have to sign a waiver of no liability to HFH before they can be a volenteer. If it was a volenteer that fell it would not have been considered trespassing since they signed the waiver. It could have easily been a volenteer that stepped onto that scaffolding that day. Our case for liability has been tossed out because HFH says he was trespassing while doing his job for them using equipment set up for volenteers.

I just heard from hubby again. He says the guy fell from about 15-20 feet. He was one of very few people on the job after they let everyone else go. Says the job will probably be shut down indefinately if OSHA is called in. Our prayers to the injured worker and his family.
