About three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives.

Texas ranks number one in alcohol-related crashes.

Underage drinking costs the state $5.5 billion a year, including medical costs, property damage and loss of life.

In 2006, 276 Texans under the age of 21 died in alcohol-related crashes.

"If we're okay with that, then we shouldn't be doing anything different in Texas, but we don't think Texans are okay with that," president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Laura Dean-Mooney said.

"I as a native Texan am not happy about that. We need to keep our kids safe, we need to keep the population safe."

For tips on how to talk to your teen about alcohol, go to the MADD website.

Texans should not drink and drive. Period. Parents should set a good example. The example I am setting for my daughter by never taking a sip of alcohol my entire life. It can be done and should be done if you really care about other people. I encourage others to make the same decision. There is no good reason to drink alcohol but MANY reasons not to. If you're being honest with yourself you will agree. Now... what to do about that?

a man named, J E Leach, back in the middle 1980's killed 2 people in a drunk driving accident in Rains county, Texas. Last month, this same man was given a 'first offense drunk driving'sentence which was lowered to a misdemeanor in the next county in Van Zandt. I wrote to the District Attorney there , with NO response from their office on this travesty !!

Laura Dean Mooney needs to learn what Benjamin Franklin pointed out over 200 years ago: "Those who are willing to sacrifice freedom for security will have neither" it's been repeated often, but some knuckleheads--like Laura Dean Mooney--JUST DON'T GET IT!!!

More MADD propaganda . The folks at MADD will tell ANY lie,and twist ANY stat.An alcohol related crash is NOT the same as a crash CAUSED by a drunk driver.Drinking and driving is not the same as drunk driving. MADD figures if they keep saying it and saying it over and over, people will start to believe it (It's like brainwashing)MADD has found Drunk Driving to be the perfect vehicle to ride as they try to return us to Prohibition, which as we all know was an experiment that failed big time.
