Human remains that could be the missing link in a missing persons case in Grimes County, will be sent off for testing Monday morning according to Sheriff Don Sowell.
The remains were found Thursday, in a heavily wooded area off of Highway 90 in Shiro.
The sheriff's office says the body will be taken to the University of North Texas to determine the identity of the remains, and a cause of death.
Investigators also used the very same medical examiner's office, to I.D. a different set human remains also found in Shiro back in April.
"A lot of people have asked if this is that this case, is it connected to this case," Sowell said. "And it was of interest because it's not that far away geographically, and as it turned out it was not."
The Grimes County Sheriff's Office was searching through hundreds of acres of woods Thursday in hopes of finding Carlos Rodriguez.
Rodriguez vanished from his Grimes County home nearly four years ago.
Investigators stumbled upon the remains during that search. However, an official identification of the body has not yet been made.
