Former Bryan teacher and accused child molester Bruce Unger is back behind bars after being extradited from New York on Tuesday.

According to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office, Unger arrived Tuesday night at 11:45 p.m. and was booked by 12:48 a.m.

Unger was charged with five counts of failure to appear for indecency with a child and one count of failure to appear for aggravated sexual assault with a child.

He was already facing five counts of indecency with a child and one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Two local investigators flew to New York Tuesday to transport Unger. The three flew to Houston, then drove back to Brazos County without incident.

Last week, Unger signed an extradition waiver clearing his transport to Texas.

Unger was arrested earlier this month in the Ukraine more than a year after he failed to show up for a pre-trial hearing. Authorities said he had been working as an English instructor near Kiev since November 2007. Once captured, he was flown to New York City to await extradition to Texas.

Officials with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate whether someone helped Unger flee the country.

Once complete, they'll turn their findings over to the district attorney's office for review.

Sadly, this is exactly the kind of behavior we have come to expect out of public school teachers. If they are not raping little boys, they are breaking in to houses or selling dope. The schools have employed a whole lot of sick, twisted freaks. I'm sure Bruce Unger will encounter many former teachers when he gets to the state penitentiary. He should feel right at home with them. I hope you get in there and rot, Bruce Unger

This s.o.b. needs to fry in the electric chair!!!!You destroyed innocent children's lives. This kind of thing will haunt them for the rest of their lives.I hope you burn in hell.

It's people like him that makes it difficult for us to show affection and support to our children in a time of need. His kind are the ones who have helped us to become a cold society where a hug once meant love, support and encouragement now it means your up to something no good. Bruce, your day is coming and may the Lord grant you mercy as He sees fit. To the families who have been harmed by this being, I pray for your healing. To all our teachers - keep up the excellent work you do with our children, daily.

They have police recordings of this man calling one of his victims and apologizing for what he did so there isn't a doubt that he's guilty. I hope that he gets good and comfortable being so big burly man's prison love buddy. If this man gets off easy, then I don't know what this world is coming to. I also hope that whomever helped him flee the country faces some jail time as well. Man up, Unger! Give up the person or persons that helped you escape and plead guilty to all charges. Look at those boys in the eyes while you do and realize how much that YOU took away from them.

Bruce, old friend, how things have changed. You paraded around as if you ran the show. Look how the tables have turned. I hope you rot in that cell. I hope you can't go a single second without remembering the lifetime of pain you caused our children, families, parents, and teachers. We're supposed to be their safe house, their place of refuge. Instead, you pervert young innocence with your vile sickness. Take a ride on your bike to clear your head before the trial? You should have driven it off a cliff like we had all hoped. You'll meet your maker someday. I hope your hell is a pack of "los coyotes" tearing you limb from limb for eternity.

Lets just say I think he needs some jail time too, but really all this bashing is nuts! I knew his exwife and him personaly - his ex is a wonderful lady and I am sure she like the rest of us is ready for this to be over. Let the system do their job. All the bashing on here will do nothing but start fights. I say we just watch and see what happens. I am sure he is guilty which is really sad but at least lets leave it alone. I wish all the best of luck to his wonderful ex wife - may you live without of this drama - like i know you are! Hang in there.....to Bruce - not sure what to say - you are the kind of teachers that give the rest of us a bad name. Please if you do get out don't stay around here - and please stay on the straight and narrow.....good luck to all

Lovely! Here we have yet another fine example of a teacher that landed in the pokey. Where do the schools find all these thugs they hire? They need to lock this guy up and throw away the key.

I'm pretty sure he'll be receiving some jail house justice after he is sentenced to prison. There's no way any jury or judge would give this guy probation after her fled. He'll be doing time for sure.

Welcome to HELL Mr. Unger

Thank God for the Law Enforcement Officers who tracked the scum bag down. Bring him to justice!

A plea bargain has probably already been drawn up by our WONDERFUL D.A (Bill Turner) and team. I bet Unger gets 1-3 years, probation, at worst. After all, this is his very first offense (that he was actually CAUGHT after commiting). Let him go, our D.A. will protect us, and if not Mr. Turner, then I KNOW we can count on the protection of our super harsh judges at the Brazos County Courthouse. Judge Steve Smith LOVES to give probation to such SCUM ... he proves it time-after-time, as do the WEAK jurys that allow the even weaker cases presented by the D.A.'s office to be believed and acted upon. Enough is enough, right?! When's the next election?! We're ready for CHANGE THAT COUNTS, and makes us safer, to boot. QUIT being satisfied with allowing criminals to be let FREE, without paying for their crime?! Accountability NOW, for the system, and the perps! Welcome back Unger, congrats on committing your crimes in a very SOFT county, you'll be a teacher again, very soon. I am almost sure!!

let the courts do there job.. now that there is funny,

Posted by: veteran Location: Bryan on Dec 31, 2008 at 05:01 PM
lets take him out back and string him up

Posted by: Concerned Location: B/CS on Dec 31, 2008 at 03:40 PM
OkOk I will play a little deveils advocate here. Let me start by saying if this man is guilty I wish him all the pain and suffering there is on earth. But what if he is not guilty. Let the courts do there job. Some will say he is guilty becuase he ran. But if you knew there was a mob of people like the ones posting on here out to get you what would you do? RUN? If he did do these crimes he should get everything coming to him and knowing the DA here probably more. Just sit back and watch the bashing that is going to come because of this post and you will se what I am talking about. The people on here do not know anything about me. But they will judge quickly and harshly. And no coming on here and stating "I know this person and that person and they said this and that" is not proof. People in this country are innocent untill proven guilty in a court of law not the court of public opinion.

Hopefully the Prosecutor nails his bottom to the wall and he never gets out, these children that he took advantage of need justice. I really hope that he didn't do anything to any of the children in the Ukraine while he was there teaching.

Put him under the jail. I hope his family is being investigated to determine if they helped him leave the country.

What a worm. Agree with not letting this one hit the streets of Brazos County EVER again.

Best wishes to the prosecuting team on this one; don't let this one hit the streets of Brazos County ever again.
