Leon County may not be large, but its leaders are definitely thinking big. County Commissioners have decided to move ahead with plans to build the county's first Expo Center.
Judge Byron Ryder said Friday the county is in the process of purchasing a 130-acre tract of land on Highway 75 between Centerville and Buffalo.
Ryder says the county is in need of a facility to accommodate its booming 4-H programs which currently boasts more than 600 members. But he says the Expo center will also be used for shows, exhibits and conventions.
Once the land is secured, the next step will be to form an organizational committee to begin raising funds and plotting timelines.

Be careful Leon County residents! This might be a ploy like the one that Brazos County pulled on its citizens -- one where they promise a great facility with a 6000 seat indoor arena, then only give you a show barn and a covered rodeo pavilion.
