Debbie Brown has been judging cats for 20 years. "I showed and raised cats for a long time, back in the early '80s," said Brown.
Now she's on the other side of the judge's table, and can't turn the cat-judging switch off.
"No, unfortunately I judge it automatically, I even judge cats on T-shirts or the little cat figurines- you know, its just there," said Brown.
She certainly wasn't the only one at the Brenham cat show with a feline fetish. Owners brought short hair, long hair, kittens and cats that look like Hitler.
With titles like "7th Best Household Cat," people keep coming back to cat show after cat show.
Cat owner Deborah spencer said she's been to at least 50 this season. Each show is a little like a beauty pageant.
"A couple days before the show, we have to have a bath, get our nails cut, get our ears all trimmed out," said Spencer.
Then there's grooming the day of the show, and special diet strategies, like feeding cats baby food.
"More protein, keeps his energy up during the day," said owner Beverly McCurdy.
Energy is what these cats need because they'll be prodded, petted and asked to play.
Then asked to do it all over again next weekend.
The next local cat show is in Waco, on Valentines Day weekend.
