It's a scene many of our fathers, grandfathers and uncles lived, but one most of us have never experienced.
History came alive Saturday in College Station through a WWII battle re-enactment.
Many of the tanks and weapons were part of The Museum of the American G.I., the living history museum just south of College Station.
About 1000 folks came out to watch. Volunteers say it's important for them to keep the lessons of WWII alive.
"We're losing today about 1,500 WWII veterans a day and considering we already lost 400,000 during the war, pretty soon there won't be that many more WWII veterans out there and somebody has to be able to pass along what their father and great-grandfathers and grandfathers actually did," said John Stiles, a volunteer.
If you missed the re-enactment, you can catch it next year during the museum's open house.

I saw the promo on TV, but smooth forgot to go to the event. I also would like to see a current event calender that is available 24/7, for local events.
