Robertson County Sheriff's officials have released the name of the man killed in Wednesday's gas well accident near Franklin.
According to authorities, Robert Jost, 38, of Rockdale died at St. Joseph Regional Health Center after being struck in the chest with a pipe.
Jost was an employee of Express Energy, a subcontractor servicing an EnCana well, according to Sheriff Gerald Yezak.
A gas well blew just after 3 p.m. on FM 1940 about ten miles east of Franklin near James Cemetery Road, official said.
Crews from EnCana Oil and Gas secured the gas leak shortly after the explosion, Yezak said.
The Robertson County Sheriff's Office and Texas Railroad Commission are investigating the explosion.

Please pray for him and his family. They belong to our church and the family needs your prayers now. He had a 15 yr old girl, and the boy was younger. This is such a tragedy. May God comfort you in this time when you need him the most.
I met Rob once at a party with a company he worked at in Pflugerville. Rob was a man of his word, never complained about anything (this being stated by co-workers). May God Bless his family; wife, 2 kids. May God's strenth show them peace and support through this difficult time.
May God Bless Him, His Family and Co-Workers. We really need a hospital in Franklin. We are growing so much and while I cant say whether a local hospital could have saved his life, in emergency situations the accessibility of a local emergency room CAN mean life or death. It only takes moments for a heart attack, stroke or car accident to die. Our ambulance crews do super human feats to save lives BUT even they would like to see a hospital closer than 40-45 minutes away or depending on the area of the county even further. Please someone help us get a hospital in Franklin! I have kids and have had to rush both to the hospital in Bryan or College Station more than once. It is a frightening trip. We need our own hospital, not one controlled by outside interests either.
