An early morning standoff ended in Bryan Sunday morning after shots were reportedly fired in or around a home.
Bryan Police said 34-year-old Jeffrey Johnson was taken into custody just before 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Police said Johnson will be charged with disorderly conduct for discharging a firerm in the city. That charge is a Class C misdemeanor, and punishable by a fine of up to $500.
According to BPD, it was about 12:30 a.m. Sunday when neighbors reported hearing six shots fired at a home in the 100 block of Sulphur Springs near South College. When officers arrived, they heard more shots and saw muzzle flashes from one of the yards.
A dispatcher received a call soon after from a man in the house in question, one authorities say was being uncooperative. Police say they were able to contact a woman in the home, and as a result of that contact, they believed she and two children in the home were in danger. Police could not convince those inside to come out initially.
Authorities were on scene throughout the night after the activation of BPD's emergency response team, which includes negotiators and a tactical unit.
By 9:30 a.m. Sunday, police say all those in the home came out without incident. As of early Sunday afternoon, authorities say the investigation into those shots fired continues.
Bryan Police said more than 20 officers were on scene for the nine-hour ordeal.

What was he thinking? Oh, he wasn't.... It's bad enough you pull a gun out in the CITY, but do it while your drunk with kid's around. I know this person and he does not care.. SORRY Rach and kid's
Even if he was not firing into the air, my comment was 'if someone is stupid enough to fire in to the air.' and we don't know what he was firing at do we? No matter WHAT he was firing at, his actions were not very smart on any level 'as I read it' There is a reason why firing a gun inside the city limits is against the law. BTW He would have gotten a fine but not envolved the SWAT team etc. had he come out in the first place and faced up to his actions. I believe in having the right to own a fire arm but concerned about the ppl that do have them and not responsble.
"I don’t want someone stupid enough to discharge a firearm up in the air when my grandbaby lives a few miles away." Where does it say he was shooting into the air??? If he was shooting at someone or something good and solid and had a backstop, even the cops may have eventually decided that there wasn't a real safety issue once they had the entire story. Ever been charged by a feral hog? I've SEEN them running up and down Carter creek since it's gotten so dry... OTOH, until they got the situation clarified, I can see how BPD was justified in assuming the worst.
