On June 25, the Navasota Independent School District received an open records request from the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas (ACLU).

The ACLU alleges that some district employees may not completely understand the policy regarding religious matters within the public school system and have violated policy.

School Board President, John Price says, the ACLU is alleging that some religious activities may have taken place on school property. For example, Prices says the ACLU believes some personnel may have participated in prayer functions and that Gideon Bibles were handed out on campus and placed in areas where students could have accessed them.

As a result of that request, the district released a statement the evening of June 25, in response to the allegations.

Since then, Navasota ISD's Board of Trustees has also sent a letter to all district employees.

Thank you for setting the facts straight, Renee. I was going to explain the same thing. Also, Gavin, you have no idea the peace and hope you are missing out on by rejecting God in your life. May He richly bless you and bring you to the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Religion should definately be kept out of schools. Why do we insist on teaching our children absolute nonsense that was invented up by superstitious iron age men. There is not one shred of empirical evidence for any of the dogma espoused in any of the world's religious texts! Let's grow up and examine facts and stop limiting ourselves with superstition and thinking with the minds of cavemen.

"Actually, the ACLU is investigating religious activities in seven public school districts in Texas. Sister Mary Jane, Uncle Buckshot, and Bubba ain't running all of those districts." But their family members appear to be. Talking about problems in a different ISD will not get these Navasota nit-wits out of this one.
