Some youngsters got to see first hand what's it's like to be on the front line of law enforcement and they saw just how Bryan's SWAT team uses their lines to help them rappel down the side of a building.

Members of Bryan PD's Tactical Team put on a special demonstration for the kids at the Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley on Wednesday morning.

And who knows, some of the department's newest recruits could even come from the museum. Some of the staff members strapped on harnesses and showed the kids they would have made police officers, if they hadn't chosen to go to work at the museum.

During the week long camp, children have the opportunity to get their fingerprints taken and learn all about crime scene investigation, as well as how to interact with the SWAT team and police dogs.

In addition while in Survival School, children will learn some basics about surviving in the wild, such as safe foods they can eat in the wilderness.
Survivor camp with Bryan Police Department at the museum continues through Friday.

SWAT is possibly /the/ most useless feature of police, and a by-product of the failed War on Drugs. They use the idea that someone might hurt themselves as an excuse to train in paramilitary tactics and weapons, wasting millions upon millions of other people's dollars in the process. I can see they're starting early on indoctrinating the children into believing SWAT is necessary or useful, so that they will be willing employers in the future.

I agree with RJ. We need more Obama Youth programs to help condition our kids to be able to survive the coming social changes.

@RJ: And learning how to interact with police will teach them that?
