A Grimes County Sheriff's investigator is recovering following a Thursday night motorcycle wreck in College Station.

Deputy Travis Higginbotham, 38, was off duty and riding his motorcycle east on University Drive when he rear ended an SUV. He was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan where he's being treated for fractures and a spinal injury. No one in the SUV was injured.

East bound lanes on University Drive were closed from Tarrow to Spring Loop for about an hour.

I just want to say that I believe in the power of prayers and I do believe in miracles. I thank all of you that have supported Travis and we all know that life can be taken from us in a second, Travis is an outstanding person, and yes we all make mistakes in life and sometimes things happen for a reason, but for the one that doesn't like our fine police officers and the things they go thru everyday and night, I hope you realize that there is more to life than being angry, I hope that you find peace within yourself one of these days. To all of the BAND OF BROTHERS" bike riders and police and fireman, we love you and we appreciate all that you do, and all that you have done for travis...I consider the band of brothers bike riders for all the community things that they do during the year and for standing up for one of their own.....I love each and everyone of you...MOM

I am just thankful that two beautiful little girls still have their father to watch them grow up. As to all of you who would be so quick to judge or condem someone in comparison with your opinions, well that is your right, but I hope that this never happens to someone in your circle of family or friends. Maybe then you all would have sympathy for those involved. Just remember most of you know not of whom or what you speak. I hope that you never are faced with having to tell your children that the other parent was involved in a wreck and have to hold them while they cry and worry all the while your heart is breaking because you just brought them bad news. Until you are in those shoes maybe you should keep your mouth shut and your mind open.

"Grimes County Resident" The fact that my brother is alive is a blessing. It does not matter where he works or what he does for a living that should be the case. The fact that he is here to see his two young beautiful daughters grow up and be here with his family is a wonderful gift for us. This must go way beyond that fact he needs to be ticketed. You must be one of the bad guys he has arrested before or you have been in some kind of trouble with the law so before you start making stupid comments about him being at fault or ticketed or treated like any other person grow up. He is ALIVE at this point anything else does not matter. I love my brother and thank GOD everyday he is still here with us.
