Blue Bell Creameries will soon own the old Mount Vernon Mills facility in Brenham, paying an undisclosed amount of money for the plant.

The 400,000 square foot facility will serve as a warehouse to store carton supplies. Some of the work load currently taking place at Blue Bell's snack plant located on the adjacent property will also be moved to the Mt. Vernon plant location.

Paul Kruse, Blue Bell's CEO and President says for over a hundred years, his company had been a neighbor of the textile operation and hated to see them close.

Last year, Mount Vernon Mills, Inc., a textile company scaled back its operation and eventually ceased all operations in Brenham.
