A 63-year-old Bryan resident died Saturday while on the Gibbons Creek Reservoir. Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said the body of Cecil Banks was pulled from the water before 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Sowell said his office was notified around 4 'o' clock by others on the lake who saw an unattended boat on the water.

Sheriff's deputies and State Game Wardens located the boat a quarter of a mile from the boat ramp. Hours later, Banks' body was found submerged approximately 15 feet under water.

Sowell said Banks was a disabled veteran who regularly fished alone at Gibbons Creek. His body has been sent to Conroe for an autopsy.

Mr.Banks was the nicest person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May god be with you in this time of need.

Nope. A boat didn't fly by and fill his boat. His boat was tied to a stump, among other stumps. Wasn't possible for another boater to cause this.
