After more than 30 years of service, one of the community's most familiar faces is retiring.
A reception is planned Friday afternoon at Bryan Public Library for Clara Mounce. That's where she began working back in 1978.
Mounce was instrumental in getting the Bryan Public Library back on its feet after a devastating arson fire in the 1990's. She also aided in the restoration of the more than 100 year old, Carnegie Library.
Mounce will be replaced by Larry Koeninger from Iowa.

Dear KBTX Staff Mrs. Mounce has been more than instrumental for the betterment of Bryan Public Libraries. She has touched many people's lives and has gone above and beyond her call of duty. In light of her many accomplishments, and for holding an outstanding, long record of a demonstrated, sincere interest for her community at heart and living it with concrete actions that speak of her great heat, she will not be replaceable. I would candidly like to suggest a more suitable term for Mrs. Mounce replacement, for example, in her own words: "I am leaving the Liubrary in the hands of Larry Koesinger, who has impressed us all". Thank you for this article and for the opportunity to post our comments. Kind Regards, Laura
