Spring break is right around the corner, but not every Aggie is planning a trip to the beach for a week of relaxation.
Turns out more than 100 Aggies from Greek Life will be heading to Lake Charles in an effort to help a community that's been in recovery for close to five years.
"No, it's a little different from something like Gulf Shores or South Padre Island," said Aggie Logan Campbell.
Campbell and Brian Smith are leading up the Greek Life Mission Trip for spring break and it's not you typical week off from college affair.
"This is absolutely great, this is what we love to see. It just goes to show how much Aggies love to serve people," said Smith.
Turns out this group will be heading to Louisiana to repair homes that have been damaged for over four years by Hurricane Rita.
"Rita has been termed a forgotten storm. With Katrina and Ike, they got a lot more attention and for whatever reason there's a lot of families down there that still haven't had their homes repaired," said Campbell.
"I enjoy doing the sheet rock. Knocking down the walls and putting some new ones back up. You always have a good time," said Aggie Michael Brock.
Brock can't wait for the trip. This will be the fourth time he's been on a mission like this and he likes dispelling the myths about fraternities and what they do for fun.
"We're more than just some college students looking for a good time. We actually care, we've got our morals straight and we like to give back," said Brock.
This Tuesday on News 3, we'll have an update for you on this group of Greek Life students and show you the good work they're doing in Lake Charles.
