The Arts Council and the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Inc. are pleased to invite the community to Empty Bowls, Jr. on March 2nd from 10am to 1pm at the Arts Center, located at 2275 Dartmouth Street in College Station. For several months students and teachers of College Station ISD and Allen Academy have been creating handmade bowls to donate for this event. A donation of $10 is requested for each unique bowl, with all proceeds benefiting the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Inc. and Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
Individuals who make a donation for a bowl will be served a simple meal of soup and bread as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the community. Member restaurants of the Taste of B-CS will donate their signature soups for this event. Stop by, pick out a bowl, make a donation and enjoy soup and bread from Blue Baker, Café Eccell, Casa Rodriguez, Global Event Group, Lemon Wedge, Madden’s, Shipwreck Grill, and The Village Café.
The Brazos Valley Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that serves as a central distribution site uniting food donors, volunteers and hunger-relief agencies. As the “hub” of over 40 different agencies that feed the hungry throughout Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties, the Brazos Valley Food Bank distributes 4 million pounds of food annually.
Empty Bowls is a nation-wide project designed to raise money to end hunger and food insecurity. Collectively, Empty Bowls fundraisers across the United States have raised several millions of dollars and are held in over a dozen countries around the globe. The Arts Council, Brazos Valley Food Bank, Taste of B/CS, College Station ISD and Allen Academy are proud to be a part of this worldwide event.
