Madison County Family Recalls Frightening Moments during Armed Home Invasion
A family in Madisonville says they are counting their blessings. This after an armed man barged into their home yesterday and threatened to kill himself.
Peaceful sounds of Mother Nature accompanied by the occasional driver just passing through are typical sounds that echoes down many rural country road's in Madison County -- but Thursday afternoon was anything but typical.
911 Operator: "911 what’s your emergency? Caller: “Help! Help! There is a man in my house and he's trying to rob me and he has a gun!"
A desperate plea for help after 32-year-old Brandon White barged into a home on the 5200 block of FM 2289 in Madison County.
911 Operator: “Do you know who the man is?” Caller: “Yes ma'am, he used to work at the Wal-Mart.” 911 Operator: “We have help on the way.”
A mother and her 28-year-old daughter were inside their home at the time of Thursday's home invasion. Friday afternoon, both were too emotionally distraught to speak with us on camera, but the mother, who you hear in the 911 call, says she and her daughter were about to leave the house to celebrate her granddaughter’s birthday. They say White, who appeared to be extremely emotional and intoxicated sat on the couch, started rambling about his troubled past and then left. Moments later...
"He barged right through the unlocked front door hear like, here I am and I want your money and your pills," added Neeley. "Then he went on rambling about how his life was over, he had no home and he had no place to go and might as well end it now and even put the pistol to his head."
The daughter says she didn't know what to do, going on to say it was in God's hands; she says he seemed lost and alone. She asked him if he believed in God – and White claimed he did, going on to say his father was a preacher. Trying to take the focus off of a violent situation, the victim says she tried to calm him and offered him some food. He put the gun away and started eating a sandwich. Off camera, she explained all she could think about was her daughter’s birthday party that she and her mother were now late for. Unable to hold back tears, she said she couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of never getting to see her daughter again. All of a sudden, she says White became very apologetic and claiming he had to leave.
It is unclear whether or not White had someone waiting in a getaway car or if anyone else was involved; what we do know is he somehow made his way to Conroe.
“Thursday night Officer Harbin developed some information through the public and he was able to obtain a cell phone number for Mr. White and we found out he was staying at an apartment complex in Conroe,” said Neeley.
After several hours of dialogue over the phone, Harbin was able to talk White down to a peaceful surrender at 5 Friday morning; he was arrested by Conroe Police.
“They were scared, shook up and emotional, but unharmed,” said Neeley.”It was a very good outcome of the situation.” He was obviously high on something and bouncing off this mental spectrum, so it was a very scary situation.”
A very intoxicated White was transported back to Madison County Sheriff's Office for booking; he is charged with aggravated robbery and burglary of a habitation.
