Alleged Gambling Operations Raided in Milam County

Authorities in Milam County raided buildings in Cameron and Rockdale Sunday night and made a pair of arrests for illegal gambling.

Arafat Zayed is the manager of Mike's Convenience Store in Cameron. The Milam County Sheriff's office says they found more than $2,100 in gambling proceeds and electronic slot machines. The 29-year-old was arrested for allegedly allowing the gambling to take place.

Simultaneously, authorities raided a building on Ackerman Road in Rockdale, finding more than five-thousand dollars and 15 slot machines. Zayed Frank Zayed of Temple is accused of running the operation.

Both men faces misdemeanor charges related to gambling. Bond was set at $6,000 for each.
