Calvert ISD Athletic Director Arrested on Drug Charges

Authorities have arrested the man who holds the titles of athletic director, head football coach and head track coach at Calvert Independent School District on drug charges.

Coylin Grimes was pulled over during a traffic stop Friday morning and consequently taken into custody for further questioning at the Robertson County Sheriff's Office. Less than two hours into questioning Grimes was arrested.

Sources with the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division believe Grimes conspired to distribute cocaine and was an accessory to criminal activity. Grimes' arrest, authorities say, is part of a drug investigation in Robertson County that has been underway since early 2011. Grimes is the fourteenth arrest made; his brother, Taurean, was the 11th suspect arrested.

Calvert ISD Superintendent Maxie Morgan tells News 3, "We are taken by surprise of the arrest and we will have to wait to see what the court decides."

Grimes was taken to Bell County and will be transported to Waco's Harwell Federal Detention Center Saturday morning. He will see a judge on Monday.
