Winter Storm Headed East After Covering West Texas

Posted: 5:58 PM Jan 3, 2013
Reporter: Associated Press

A winter storm headed east into North and Central Texas but promised much less accumulations of snow than it dumped on West Texas the day before.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through Friday afternoon along and west of a line stretching from Stephenville to Gatesville as 1 to 3 inches of snow were expected in that area.

Lighter accumulations were expected Friday morning in the Edward's Plateau, while less than a half-inch was expected in North Texas.

That's after the storm dumped up to 10 inches of snow in West Texas, forcing the closing of Interstate 10 between eastern El Paso County and Van Horn, U.S. 62/180 from El Paso's eastern outskirts to the New Mexico border, and the Transmountain Highway through the Franklin Mountains in El Paso.
