Raise Coming for CSISD Teachers

College Station teachers will get a 1.5 percent pay increase for the next school year.

The school board approved the bump at Tuesday's meeting as they went over financials for the district.

Last school year, teachers received a 1 percent hike, and saw no increase the year before.

Taxpayers won't likely see a tax rate increase, according to the board. The maintenance and operations could see a $0.04 increase per $100 evaluation, but the interest and sinking tax rate could see a $0.04 decrease.

The 2012-2013 budget will be reduced by $1.8 million, and there's a planned $4.6 million deficit built in for the opening of the new College Station High School.

The board also heard about plans for renovations to A&M Consolidated High School. Phase 1 is set to start this summer, with Phase 2 scheduled for next summer. Paid for with bond money from 2009, the changes include:

- CATE and special education classroom improvements
- the creation of a multi-use gathering area outside of the library
- an enhancement to the exterior entrance
- library renovations
- the creation of an opened-space gathering and seating area at the entrance of the building
