Even without a contested Republican presidential race, that party's primary had a better early turnout than 2008 in Brazos County.
Early voting wrapped up Friday for Tuesday's election.
More than 1,100 more voters cast ballots early in the GOP primary compared to four years ago.
On the Democratic side, with no presidential battle like 2008 and no major local races, turnout was significantly down over the last general election year.
