On Thursday the Texas Department of Public Safety will commission the fourth of its new patrol vessels in Austin.
This patrol vessel, the Troy Hogue, is being named in honor of Trooper Troy Hogue, who was shot and killed by a DWI suspect after a traffic wreck on I-20 in Howard County on December 30, 1994.
The commissioning ceremony will take place at the DPS Headquarters, after which the Hogue family will give the first patrol orders at Walter E. Long Park.
The 34-foot shallow water interceptor will primarily patrol the Intracoastal Waterway.
