RED OAK, Texas - Two teen boys have been taken to a juvenile detention center after a North Texas sheriff's deputy was shot in the face by a high-powered BB gun.
Ellis County sheriff's Lt. Rick White tells The Dallas Morning News that deputy Mike Catcher was driving his squad car in Red Oak, about 20 miles south of Dallas, when he was struck Monday night. White says police believe the pellet traveled through an open window.
Around the same time, dispatchers received two other calls from the area. One man said his 11-year-old passenger was cut by shattered glass.
White says the 15-year-old suspects will likely be charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
White says Catcher, who was hospitalized, should recover.
