A Kingwood mother accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed her 8-month-old child has been indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury.
Ashli Nicole Heil, 28, was indicted on three separate charges including murder, intoxication manslaughter and injury to a child. If convicted of murder, she faces 99 years or life in prison without parole.
Heil's daughter, Whilow, was strapped in a baby seat inside the SUV driven by her mother.
A state trooper says on April 2 Heil failed to negotiate a curve on FM 1484 in the Cut and Shoot area.
Crash investigators say the vehicle went airborne and slammed into a tree. The child died at the scene.
Troopers say she admitted to drinking and had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit. They believe she was driving about 65 miles an hour.
