Human Case of West Nile Confirmed in Brazos County

A human case of West Nile virus (WNV) was reported to the Brazos County Health Department (BCHD) on August 2, 2012.

This is the first documented human case in 2012 in Brazos County to be reported to BCHD.

Please keep in mind that all of Brazos County is positive for WNV.

All Brazos County residents are urged to keep up their defenses and practice the Four D’s:

• Drain standing water around the house, including tires, cans, flowerpots, rain gutters, buckets, wading pools, puddles, etc. Trim grass and shrubs and do not over water lawns and gardens.

• Wear insect repellent containing DEET.

• Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.

• Dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors to prevent bites.
