Bearkat baseball beats Houston Baptist 8-3

Jake Arrington and Luke Plucheck both hit run-scoring triples to lead Sam Houston State to an 8-3 non-conference baseball victory over Houston Baptist Tuesday night at Don Sanders Stadium.
The victory lifts the No. 22 ranked Bearkats to 29-11 for the season. Sam Houston State have won 18 of their last 20 games.
Everyone got into the act as 10 different players got hits for Sam Houston. Shea Pierce and Jessie Plumlee each hit doubles as the Bearkats totaled 11 hits.
Michael Oros (6-0) was the winning pitcher, giving up only one hit in five innings while walking two and striking out seven. Andrew Godail, Cody Dickson and Michael Burchett pitched in relief.
Chad Valcoviak (0-2) was the loser for Houston Baptist as the Huskees dropped to 15-23 for the year. HBU totaled four hits.
Sam Houston returns to Southland Conference action as the Kats start a three-game weekend series with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday at 6:30 at Don Sanders Stadium.
